Carlsen is a manufactured world champion. He played against arguably the worst world champion in history

I agree - he played against the worst five times world champion.

Also the best, though, since noone else has achieved something like that.

What I find manufactured (and made in China) is your way of thinking.

Personally I think this whole "5xs world champion" sillieness brought some bad karma to Anand.

Counting Kirsan's "world championship tournaments" as real world championships is a farce.

fabelhaft

Apart from everything else I think the idea that the more chance that is introduced by shortening events, the easier it has been made for Carlsen, is dubious to say the least. It's like the previous cycle when FIDE skipped the longer Candidates match and introduced the knockout lottery and Carlsen refused to play, not because "they made it easier for him" by shortening the matches, but because they made it more difficult for the best player to win by making it mainly about rapid and blitz tiebreaks where the best players run much bigger risk of not winning.

So I don't agree that it would have been more difficult for Carlsen to win now with a longer match, and I don't think it became easier for him in the previous Candidates either, had he decided to play.
