Looks like a good solution. As a guitar player i have to use a big whole house humidifier and check it with a hygrometer because I like leaving them out of their cases. Lots of "in the case" humidifiers at any guitar store too; they're either some kind of fancy sponge or a little button filled with a kind of moisture absorbing clay. Cheapest is just a well wrung out, but still damp, kitchen sponge. The tobacco ones you cite sure are high tech though.

Some of us in states where the humidity levels are very low have experienced ebony pieces that have cracked. I have no affiliation with this company, but I purchased these and I put them in my chess storage box of my set and so far work like a charm-Thought I'd pass this on to you other folks who live in low humidity areas like I do in Nevada.....link here:
