The music I always "fall back" to is Allan Holdsworth. I never get tired listening to his studio recordings.

I like Salieri

The answer is lots of J.S. Bach, lots of Vivaldi, bits of Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saens, Hummel, Mozart, Haydn, Strauss, Bruckner, Cheech and Chong, Soft Machine and derivatives, Velvet Underground, Benny Hill and many others including three by Mozart but zero Beethoven. So I must like Mozart a little bit but not as much as Benny Hill.

I think a couple may have been misplaced.

yes, cut a few and it will be perfect.

Well, honestly, I do not really care what you like. Just don't call it tunes or songs. And don't mention Bach in the same sentence as Benny Hill.

And I suddenly fancy a muffin. Undecided

Make it an English muffin. With jelly inside.

I think there is an historical bias against Salieri, my favourite composer

Since much of what Mozart wrote can be sung, it can be considered as songs or tunes, whether or not they were expressly written for voice accompaniment, which many, of course, were. A lot of his tunes are simplistic or childlike although some of them are more ambitious but he repeats the same motifs both within his tunes and between them. In general Mozart is boring, unlike some other Baroque composers. He composed what would now be considered "light music", the pop music of his era, written to appeal to those without a sophisticated appreciation of music as opposed, say, to pop's equivalent in jazz-rock. It's typical of some chess players to get all pedantic over detail and entirely miss the intention. Never mind, when you worship achievment, it's easy to get it mixed up with brilliance.

So let me get this straight...he's not a musical genius because you find his music "boring"...

your logic is impressive.

more like someone walking around fluffing his own ass..."nah, that ain't nothing...I'm all that and I tell you Mozart ain't nothing"

Like I'm suppose ta be impressed with you or something! LOL

Actually, Opti mentioning Benny Hill was the first time I actually liked the guy.  (Well, that and Cheech & Chong.)
