I know this has been discussed before, but the difference is vast. I've been hard stuck around 1100 on chess.com for a while, and that makes sense to me. I'm improving my principles, learning some openings, but am not great. On Lichess, however, I'm 1900 and rising. I'm playing the same opening and so on. The players 1500-2000 on Lichess often make 1 move blunders, hanging pieces, which seems more rare even at the 900-1100 here on Chess.com.. Don't get me wrong, it happens, but it seems to be much more miscalculations or two move blunders, that sort of thing. Anyways, what I'm getting at is, how in the world am I supposed to know what i'm rated? If somebody asks me to play a tournament in real life, I guess I would say i'm beginner bordering on intermediate? Why the big gap? Is there a more reliable way to figure out my rating?
I’d say low intermediate makes sense for me. At least I like to think so, haha. But a 900 point difference is odd. It makes me think that while lichess is inflated, maybe chess.com is deflated a little? Like maybe in tournaments I’d be closer to 1200-1300. I’m certainly not above 1500
You can't compare ratings between different systems/pools, e.g. lichess/chesscom, to estimate relative player strength. Different tools, different algorithm, different set of players, different etc etc.f you're going to sign up for a tournament they'll help you, so there's no need to worry. I
