Stumbled across this thing on Reddit. It looked interesting, asserting that it could accurately predict your ELO, so I tried it. My end result was 200 points above my actual rating, I guess I did something right.

Has anyone else tried this? If not, try it! It's cool.

I got 1919. The clock on that thing was really annoying the hell out of me. I also don't actually think I'm anywhere close to 1919 skill level.

I knew I forgot something, here it is.

very interesting... the timer was a headache, but my 1420 suprised me...

phudson

1510 - much higher than I expected. Yes, the timer sucksSmile

EscherehcsE

+200 over my real rating.

It's a lousy trick to get us to answer a bunch of stupid questions. (I fixed his wagon, though. Laughing )

Well I stopped doing it after it started asking unecessary questions (what's your elo, age, gender, etc,) not only were most of the puzzles flawed, but they probably base your rating off of how you answer the questions that dont have anything to do with it.

I gave the most ludicrous answers possible, so I doubt the results had anything to do with the answers to the questions.

TitanCG

The questions at the end are probably just for data collecting. I'm going to do the endgame one to see how terrible I do. Cool

radmagichat

1621 .. with a 95% certainty of a rating somewhere between 1450 and 1850 .. some of the answers though.. I just put anything down because I was cooking and had to check on my food. Didn't think that it would ask me that many questions... However my standard rating here is like 1620 .. so maybe that would be my elo. I don't know how accurate my standard rating is though.. not really into playing a bunch of standard games here. Fics I am somewhere around 17 something and chesscubes I am around 17 something.. so I would say this site has to be accurate.

PowerfulGod

WOW 1663, not expected i was not thinking well, and time it's horrible i am slow player :D but my rating is 1350-1400 and my elo score 1663 cool!

or not? :D

dpnorman

Yeah, this thing seems to be giving everyone a few extra points.

RobinHood75

2097, probably around 100 points higher than my actual rating. The test is mainly based on one's tactical abilities though, so I guess TT regular users will score high anyway.

I thought going into it that it would be all tactics, was surprised when I there were several positions where I couldn't find any shots. Thought that would drive my result into the drink.

TitanCG

Most of the questions are tactical but a few aren't.

So I took it again just for kicks and got 2030. It's obviously skewed, because in my entire tournament career, I have only beaten one opponent above 2000, and have never come close to expert rating myself.

Kmatta

1871 around 700 points above my actual rating

Jenium

do the questions at the end effect the rating?

Jenium

The endgame study is fun too
