En Passant is a valuable tool in determining the skill level of an opponent you haven't played yet. I used to work in the car business and would travel the country from dealership to dealership. There was always someone with a chessboard, for the slow times. I never lost to anyone I met at any dealership, to the point I would ask them if they knew "En Passant" before we played. If they didn't know I would ask them to find out, before we played (this was back before the days of the internet.) To be fair I got got beat plenty by people in the computer industry (Senior Software Engineer) and a guy who used to be a trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
