MM's first comment seems clear. The second one still looks muddled to me.

have seen an interesting chess puzzle where after declining the en passant on the right side, the opponent check mates with a two move pawn on the left side. I personally think this Is check mate!! because you declined en passant with the pawn in question once.

However, the only move to release from checkmate was the en passant move the second time

In that "false" checkmate position... For example in bullet a player who doesn't know the en passent rule would time out and lose in a potential winning position and not realise he wasn't check mated. A curious puzzle

I have a friend who plays "Go" and believes all chess men are "dropped" and thereafter remain stationary. He loses every game on the 1st move by waiting wink.png
