LOL, Ivandh!  And I bet you thought I'd be just dumb enough to ask about sharks!

Sharks are the most important aspect of Tallibilli chess w/lasers. Besides Mongolia...

Thanks for your kind comments, carokannfan.  I appreciate them.  I suppose I shouldn't have come on this thread and asked a silly question if I didn't want to get my leg pulled.

1. Why does your gynecologist leave the room when you undress?

2. If a person owns a piece of land, do they own it all the way down to the center of the earth?

3. Why can't woman put their mascara on with their mouth closed?

4. Why is it called alcoholics anonymous when the first thing you do is stand up and say
"hi, my name's Bob. I'm an alcoholic"?

...well "trysts"...the truth is that people don't ask questions on matters they know the answer to...so when any question is presented, it is obvious that the person does not fully understand the topic of discussion....and it does not matter that most people may know the answer...the whole issue of a "stupid question" is based on the fallacy that everyone should know the information that "you" do.

...but those are some pretty funny questions you have presented...

I wouldn't call those questions "stupid", I just thought they were silly and some of them funny.Laughing

As far as what you said:

".... people don't ask questions on matters they know the answer to...so when any question is presented, it is obvious that the person does not fully understand the topic of discussion"

I'd have to disagree. Sometimes people ask questions, thinking they know about the matter, yet they remain open to counter arguments. They also ask questions for many different psychological reasons, such as wanting to impress, be noticed, hide, etc.Smile

jesterville

...well of course you are correct...

...the whole issue of "no silly questions, only silly answers", is in the context of  learning and understanding an issue. Far too many times we don't fully understand something, but we are afraid to ask a question because we believe that others may think us to be "stupid"...

...this was introduced to me by my professor...and I always remember it.

Why do Knights jump in an L formation...I've never seen a horse jump like this....Shouldn't they rather jump in an ''n'' type move ? or maybe ''m'' formation like a double jump or something.

The problem is that if a horse gets injured, it has to be killed. The only guys in favor of this rule are the people at WholesaleChess.com. Some of their sets come with extra queens -- think of the money they could make over replacement horsies.

The way I've had it explained to me makes sense; it's a knight, not a horse. So the horse jumps two squares in one direction, and the dude on top (the knight) stabs to the side. I guess it would make more sense if a knight just moved two squares, but took the piece next to it.

O.K. guys, I get it.  And for anyone else out there who is not yet in the know, here is the explanation:  Billichess is a chess variant that uses lasers to make captures.  There are laser beams coming from the frame of the chessboard, which have to be deflected by your pieces in order to cause them to strike the piece you want to capture.
