I remember reading a book back in the 1970s or 80s, that consisted of a number of one move problems. These problems were submitted to a number of players of master and grandmaster strength and their time for solving the problems were recorded. Then, by using linear regression, a chart was constructed that would give you an estimated ELO number, based on the time it took to correctly solved the problem.

Has anyone ever come across the book, and, if so, could possibly tell me what the title was?

Any help is appreciated.

Sounds interesting but quickness doesn't correlate absolutely to playing strength of course.
But yeah, I'm sure the GMs tended to solve them faster.
