Ever get tired of it?

The first opening that I learned was the Giouco. After half a century, that and all versions of the Italian Game are getting really old. Sure, there are some lively lines but nobody ever plays them. Do you guys have any openings that you are just sick to death of?

Ruy Lopez. If I'm black I play the Berlin if it comes up. Never a6. It's a good, time tested opening played by all the greats, but I'm just not fond of it

I dont study openings, so every game is a surprise!

Similarly, I was brought up on the Ruy Lopez and Giuoco, though there were no tournament-players in my or my father's circles of friends and I didn't learn their names until later.

I like two cousins of the Giuoco, the Vienna Game and the Bishop's Opening, where you can often transpose to a favorable-for-White version of the King's Gambit Declined (without a real gambit, playing f4 around move 5 or more) or, if Black's position forbids f4, you can play Nf3 and transpose into the Giuoco if necessary.

French defense used to really bother me cause if you follow the main lines, you have to be very knowledgeable about theory or a chess wizard to not lose the advantage as white. Now I just do exchange cause equality is pretty much automatic.

Openings that fianchetto the kingside bishop as white are also pretty cancerous because you are basically throwing your extra tempo away to play an extremely safe position. Leads to very boring games imo
