As someone who has paranoid schizophrenia I can confidently say it's everyone else that has the disorder. As Bansky said paranoia is when your mind is working at peak efficiency. Chess is a perfect analogy for why paranoia is a valid way of thinking, because to be a good chess player you need to be ultra paranoid. Paranoia is often characterized by feeling like there is a conspiracy against you, like someone is out to get you, and in chess that is always true. You always need to go through every possible way you may be attacked. Real life is no different, and in fact it's more relevant because life is not a game by definition, the stakes are as high as they can possibly be.
There is always someone out to get you, because evil truly exists in the world, and not only that but stupidity too, and stupid people are even more dangerous than evil people because they are unpredictable, so how do you predict the unpredictable? Be Bobby Fischer.
