Its been long ago that chess abandoned the roads, the Persia and India or the people and became a science. Mind games like nought and crossess, checkers etc..have been its predeccessors and now evolving still, though invisible as in the opening theory of modern GM like the sicilian c5 that saved the nation of checkers e4, d4,,, but still invisible tells the story, the delusion of brain and its pastime.
