Fair Game by abandoning the game?

Hey,
It happens occasionally that an opponent, who has a bad stance, simply leaves the game. Thus leading to ‚win by abandonment‘.

Does this have any effect on stats?
Personally I simply resign because it seems more FairPlay just to admit I played too many mistakes.

What’s your opinion? Is abandoning the game bad an ok move?

It's a lot better than letting their clock run down to 0.

Personally I don't really care, because it only forces a wait of 1 minute or so. I'd prefer a resignation because it's better sportsmanship, but sometimes when they've lost badly they probably threw the phone down or closed the website and went away to calm down. So I'm not offended when it happens occasionally. Everybody has bad days.

For stats I think abandonment is treated as part of resignation.
