Can someone more educated than me do a piece about the most famous checkmates OF ALL TIME? (maybe this already exists but I am new to the site so if you could point me to a post that would be great. Have you ever got someone to fall for the Legal trap? I recently got someone to fall for the 'De Legal" vs St Brie (1750) trap and almost cried. No seriously, I literally ran the timer down in tears after my opponent took my queen. I read more about it and De Legal actually may have used the "touch move" rule of tournament play to his advantage...ie..he touched his knight by "accident" and his opponent evoked the rule where he had to legally move the knight--he captured a piece. this is the only way I can see the move working in actual tournament play because nonone would sac a queen like that in OTB games. The legal trap is in the chess.com, "Kevin" from thechesswebsite.com has a nice youtube video on a forced version of the trap. I would do the Fancy board with the moves in my post but I can't figure it out!
Cheers mates
