when first starting when do they usually hit 1000 and 1400?
Several hundred hours of deliberate practice across several months, even for the fastest improving prodigies.

I see. That makes sense. The reason I ask is the chess tournament subreddits consensus told me "1400 in 160 hours isn't a big deal". My BS detector went off.
Chess like logic it has three branches in every position defense attack manuevres. In order that this reflex muscle on your brain to grow you need 10 years of blitz or 1 year of very slow games
Every person is capable of reaching 2000 in 1 year.
Reaching 1500 is just a matter of blunder checking.
It's not about that specific rating of 1000 or 1400. They usually start high around 800 (after learning the basics, they don't usually hang pieces and their tactical skills are very good that's the reason they easily reach the next levels). After months of hardwork the prodigies tend to playfully cross any rating barrier pretty easily.

Absolutely not true. Total nonsense. Reaching 2000 takes many years even for child prodigies who train chess very seriously.
Judit Polgar learned the game at 3 or 4, started playing tournaments at age 6, and reached 2000 at age 10. Okay, due to rating inflation it's easier now, but I bet that it isn't that much easier.
Magnus Carlsen learned at age 5, started playing tournaments from age 8, and crossed 2000 when he was 10.

"you really don't have a clue about what it takes for a person to be 1500 or 2000"
++ I do. I have been 1500 and I have been 2000.
"how many of their students were rated 2000 in just 1 year"
++ I have helped propel several to 2000 and beyond in 1 year.

??? I think you need to step outside and meet real people lol. This is a bit like saying if everyone spent a year doing maths then everyone would be capable of solving second order linear differential equations. I know people that have been forced to sit through 10 years worth of math classes and still struggle with basic algebra. This doesn't make them bad or dumb people, it is just that some people have very particular patterns of thinking that make them less amenable to certain activities and skills. I love my mom, but if I forced her to play and learn chess everyday for a year I am pretty sure she would struggle to cross 800. Part of life is figuring out what your strengths and weaknesses are, it is okay to not be good at some things and excel at others. Claiming that everyone can reach 2000 I feel like is an underhanded slight, insinuating the reason people can't make 2000 is due to some form of laziness or inadequacy since everyone should be able to do it right?
@14
"the reason people can't make 2000 is due to some form of laziness or inadequacy"
++ Yes. If a person wants, then he can. But it takes effort. Many are lazy and blame lack of 'talent'. Many are stubborn and keep playing speed chess, playing too fast, memorizing openings...
@16
"That will be $100 USD"
++ No. I have trained many youngsters, but never ever charged anything. When they won championships and earned titles it was a little bit because of me.

I guess my math example is pretty spot on based on how much you suck at math. In the link you provided, this kid crossed over 2000 rating in Aug 2021 and started playing Dec 2017. Now I may not be some fancy mathemagician, but that is a little over 3 and a half years.
Yeah, that's about the limit I've seen... and so that people don't misunderstand, this isn't good improvement or great improvement, it's world class improvement. These are people who start young, work hard, and easily become GMs.
As I recall both Kasparov and Karpov were about CM level after 2 years, although (also IIRC) the CM title didn't exist. They called it "first category player."
When i mentioned these examples I referenced people who aren’t even young.
the FM was 16 when he started playing,
the 2450 was 15 or 16
and the guy who hit 21-2200 I’m assuming is around the same age as the others(he peaked at 2550) after like 3 years of playing btw

That kid started playing at FIDE tournaments in 2017 and crossed 2000 Elo in 2021. That's four years, not one. Four years, and not from learning the game, but from starting to attend international tournaments...
I'm curious, in the case of naturally gifted chess players, when first starting when do they usually hit 1000 and 1400? After only a few games or hours? I want to gauge the over the top feats prodigies are capable of.
