Probably people who read Tartakoveŕs joke: “Allways seize the opportunity to give check. It can accidentally be mate.”

Low ranked players check their opponents King more than higher ranked players because it feels like an attacking move. More skilled players only check when it ceates an advantage,

Dunno usually it's bad but sometimes it's a fork

If you play a 5 minutes or shorter game a pointless check gives you a small advantage and is somewhat likely to disrupt opponent's plans.

I have absolutely had this happen. Not bad advice for us mere mortals.

Beginner and less-experienced players often focus on immediate threats rather than long-term strategy. They might give a check without realizing it does not contribute to their overall position or plan.

Worst chess advice ever : "Always give check... who knows, it might be mate!"

I normally just do it to annoy people and force a move. Its good for breaking up prawn structures early on IMO. Especially if you can do it on the side they want to castle. I also do it a lot if they are pressuring me.

They tend to over-extend a lot if you do it.

If you can give a lot of checks early on you’re probably already winning by a lot

99% of my opponents just brainlessly check spams every chance they get. Guess its a great strategy since it makes me annoyed af, guess I need to climb out of 800 rating so hopefully one day I wont have to suffer that

It's a viable strategy in speed chess, since if they're premoving it immediately stops them and forces a quick response.

Hikaru once did that in a game against Eric Hansen; he intentionally blundered his queen with check in a clearly worse position when Hansen had only a few seconds left and Hansen was caught off guard, running out of time before he could capture the free queen.

IDK, I rarely check the king without a purpose. I check to force a trade, disrupt king safety, damage pawn structures, win material or to lead to mate.
