FIDE chess set

Chess sets compliant with FIDE rules are everywhere and inexpensive if you accept a vinyl board and plastic pieces. If you want a really nice set of pieces (you'd have to check FIDE compliance) I would look at:

The "Western" sets might pass muster. Yes, Slovenia not Slovakia. Otherwise search for "House of Stauton" although they can be pricey http://www.houseofstaunton.com/ and https://www.noj.si/index.php?lang=en which from memory are typically less expensive.

Or possibly those are the same company. Regardless, if you don't want plastic (but don't discount it entirely, there are some nice plastic sets out there) a lot of wooden sets are made in India, and reviews I've seen have suggested the value and quality match up pretty well.
