My son recently took part in a 5 round chess tournament. He played black the first round. Then white. Then played black round 3, 4 and 5. Is that typical? I asked the Chief Arbiter and he said while it is not typical it could happen, say once in 50 years. But other players told me it is foul. I have tried researching but cant find FIDE rules on this issue.
