Just thought I'd bump it since it conecerns several players.
FIDE ratings gone crazy??!

The fewer games you have played in the past six months (or year, or whatever) the bigger the rating swing will be, given the same results and the same opponents. Very active tournament players will have stable ratings. Occasional players will see large fluctuations.
That's because very active players are considered to have ratings that closely approximate their "true" playing strength.

This is true in Glicko but not in the Fide elo system . Actually I have less games than the other people I showed. Anyone?

Here's one more: Rating change of 200??!

This K-factor change is pretty new, it is starting from july. People under 18 have a 40 K-factor instead of the old 15. It is good, because it helps you to achieve your true rating faster. (And the new K-factor is 20 instead of 15 if you are above 18)

what? I am under 18 too and my Rating change was with k=15 instead of k=40.
Can you point me to a source?

This is the source you asked for. See 8.56 point.
Ok, so this is my own rating change for August 2014

Pretty normal, k=15, rchg= 14.5
But look what happened when I look into another super-active talent from our country:

For some reason the k-factor changes from 15 to 40, causing him to gain 130+ points in one tournament and to lose almost 100 in another.
Or a friend of mine (and Greek champion of his category twice) who dropped 60 because of having one horrible tournament:

What is going on here??!
