I find it somehow sexist to assign the monarch with a queen. It's like implying that women players have to be a lesbian or something to command an army. Shouldn't FIDE allow women players to replace the queen with a prince consort (cosmetic change only), so the player can have their preferred piece on the board?

So.  Much.  Stupid.  My head actually hurts.

For the thousandth time, the gender of the chess player has nothing to do with the game.

This thread has taught me a lot about chess players.  The above response is just one of the many responses above, that tell me that if you are ever invited to a party full of chess players, don't expect  an evening full of laughter, irony and light hearted sarcasm.  Sheesh.

Unfortunately very few realised that this thread was about irony and light hearted sarcasm.

And that's the whole problem.  Every time I think something is so absurd it's a joke, it turns out that there really are people that stupid.  You can never be sure on the Internet.

Hopefully you're right though.  And if this is sarcasm... well done Catniptea, you got me!

DeirdreSkye

It was sarcasm , and quite a good one. Very rare for these forums!

Disagree. Chess is too monarchic, king and queen should be replaced by president and general.

They don't call it the Royal Game for nothing.

Let's say if I were a fan of the Starks (or the Lannisters), I can perfectly make a wood chess where the king is crafted like a wolf (or a lion). It adds flavour to the chess without compromising it being chess.

I know, right? I was just chilling (not trolling), but a lot of the posts here deserve no response, which is why I didn't say anything in the first page.
