Lol, I first understood you gave some Chinese guy a chess set in a library.... It's anyhow very confusing to me. I don't get it why the aliens, why the blend in, etc.
I wish you good luck in your endeavour. I have been homeless for years long ago, and I know the struggle. I wish I could help. I'm borderline with my finances and still in charge of my kids for a part.

I only use metaphors when common language is no longer enough. But maybe not so, maybe it also happens to me I use metaphors for the style effect.
While I do understand the ideas, and the problems you seem to be talking about, I can't approve the abuse of metaphors that'll only make it tedious to read you. But that's only me.
Btw, I'm just discovering the serie "Them". So far I want to know what is going to happen next.
Amélie Poulain is sure a fiction, not based on any real event. Yet, sum it up in one written paragraph, you'll think it's going to be a very dull and very boring movie. Cos the story itself is only an excuse for the movie.
I mean by that, the fact a real life story can prove dull and boring is not an excuse to make a dull and boring movie.
The Queen of Katwe, for an example, is based on real events, that are not so exciting, and is still very watchable imo.
