This term drives me nuts. Am I the only one confused when a puzzle says "find the winning move"?
"Winning" means winning a game, to my simple mind.
"Move" is singular.
Thus a "winning move" is a move that wins the game.
Yet, the puzzles and instructors and my chess coach use the term "winning move" to mean "winning material"..."setting up mate in four"..."positioning for a win"...etc. ect.
Am I the only one confused by this term? Isn't this game hard enough without having to interpret instructions before even attacking a puzzle?
