There are literally dozens of programs that would allow you to do that. Of course using them while playing against someone here is cheating and dozens of folks get thrown out daily. Different terms you need to understand. A database contains as many as millions of previously played games. By looking at what others have played in the same position you can get an idea what to play. Legal here for correspondence games ("online"), not for live. You could boot up an engine which will figure out the best move for you but that's cheating. Very useful for finding missed tactical shots in post game analysis however. You also need a GUI to use either an engine or a database (graphic user interface). You can get lots of stuff free just by downloading it or you can go commercial and spend $50 or so on something like Fritz, HIARCS, or Chess King which have everything all tied together for you. Sounds like you need to do a little research on your own. That "search forums" box in the upper right will be real useful. Here I'll get you started with a search for "best free software".

Hi,
I've been really interested in chess lately and am trying to get better at it. Is there some sort of program out there that i can go to/buy that allows me to see my best suggested moves? I feel like seeing and understanding different moves in different situations would really help me improve.
thanks.
