OK, but how / where did you find a link to start a blog? (Not so much for myself, but the helper in Live Chess was unable to answer a basic member query about this.)

Just hover your mouse over the "My Home" link on the top right corner of the top bar. The third link from the bottom. Click it and you should be good to go. :)
