people say chess has been played for 800 years. but was it really the same game? As a child when people told me chess was 800 years I used to imagined people were playing with the same rules as we have today. http://ttebooks.com/royalchess/1history.html
- castle did not exist.
- no pawn promotion existed
- all squares had the same colour.
- Bishop could only move two squares diagonally in any direction
- pawns could only move one space all the time.
-"the queen" could move one square diagonally at a time.
Chess must have taken forever to play in the past.
I find it interesting to read the article.
