I like your enthusiasm, but chess is more than knowing the rules (how pieces move, for instance). Do you understand the general principles in each stage of the game? The tactical moves (the fork, the double attack, the skewer, pins, etc.)? I'd hate to see you get discouraged from playing more games because of a horrendous loss in your first one.
