first tilt

I used to play about 30 years ago, not brilliant but got by, started again a month or so ago, slowly worked up from 400 to about 900, now cant win at all, ever, no mater what, tried different things, tried being solid, tried attacking, all to no avail!

Option 1 - I am having my first bad run of things and this will pass, just get over it and keep going

Option 2 - This is as high as I am ever going to get so either accept that or just stop playing

Option 3  - I am sufficiently frustrated and angry to say in a loud voice that Chess is just a really shit game!!

Not sure which option suits me

Unless much has changed in the last 30 years I will expect the usual vitriol from higher rated players expressing their disgust that I as a lowly 900 are taking valuable oxygen and should not be allowed to breath let alone have an opinion.

Thanks

Came back to the game after 20 years also, i had some tilting issues in the 900's So what i did is i realized im not going to learn anything more by watching youtube videos. Other than that an puzzles...thats what i did. I avoided trading peices cause i had no endgame knowledge. So i heard about chessable an made an account. I studied 100 endgames, i also picked an opening for black and white to study. Ended up picking a opening for black agaist 1d4 also, then i recently just got the woodpecker tactics book. So thats how i cracked through. Now i have alot of material to study so i play less games but i win more than i lose now. So if your competitive an have the time, id look at what your weak areas are an get onto some learning platform an drill out thoughs weak areas. If you just want to mess around an have fun then theres nothing wrong with that and it may take longer to improve or like you suggested simple stay in the same range. Think of this though where both grown adults with im assuming, important responsabilities to attend to, so you an i dont have to luxury of studying an playing chess 10 hours a day like some of the younger folks on here. And our competition is more than likely young people with time to kill. So we have a bit of a disadvantage. I study for an hour or two each night and just play games on the weekends when theres time. Best regards-

Also hit the brakes on playing blitz, you gotta play longer time controlls to improve calculations. I play 30 min games or 15+10

Chess is all about tactics.

Be patient and good things will come- My fortune cookie right now. Starting last year I had a hard time with these new concepts and stuff. The best way for me was to keep practicing these things over and over in bullet. Again like you said this too shall pass. But be reminded that tilting is a part of the game. Just take a small break and your play will go back to normal standards. TL;DR Try to practice as much as possible and try to have fun while playing, bad runs of form will always be a part of games and sports in general so just try to be patient.
