found a foolproof strategy to boost your ELO

For about a year mods didn't care about religious talk on the forums, but recently one locked a topic for it so... maybe they're going to start doing that again, I dunno (it was a new mod IIRC).

But you're forcing God to decide who's gonna win the game...

I think I know the thread you're referring to; I thought the lock was a bit strange. Maybe just the mod? (I'd never seen that mod before.)

Yeah, it was a bit strange to me too.
In the past I've praised chess.com mods for being pretty consistent... I guess that mod was just eager to start enforcing the rules as soon as they were able. I assume it will work itself out and they'll be consistent again.

Even if there was a god, I would never pray to get better at chess. That's so arrogant and selfish. Some people have real problems like cancer, or poverty. If you wanna pray, pray about things like that.

Pfft, if prayer cured cancer or abject poverty then there'd be none. God doesn't care about stuff like that, so why not pray about chess games?

Prayer is cheating. There are three specific terms of the Fair Play policy that it violates:
- Do not get help from any other person, including parents, friends, coaches or another player
- Do not artificially manipulate ratings, matches, or game outcomes
- Do not interfere with the gameplay of other members
God certainly knows how to play chess given the all-knowing part, you're definitely manipulating outcomes, and you're definitely interfering with the gameplay of other members.
Don't pray. You'll get banned.

I pray that this thread doesn't get locked...
It's just that God is totally OP. It's completely unfair that a truly pious person could just pray and then mop the floor with Magnus. If that doesn't violate fair play, nothing does.

Heh, taking it this seriously if a fun argument ad absurdum

Player 1: Makes wild move
Player 2: Hey! That's illegal! You can't do that.
Player 1: Check the rule book.
(God: Zaparoonie!)
Player 2: I'll be da**ed! When did they make that rule?

@llama47 - I'm completely serious! In Romans 8:31 it clearly states that with God by your side, it doesn't matter who is against you! You don't have to even know that the pony moves like an L, all you need is your faith and Magnus is going down. It's an outrage!

And if it's anything like the old testament, not only would the rule be changed to ensure player 2 loses, but as punishment for losing God kills his first born son.

If this thread gets locked, I guess we'll have to admit that it was just God's will.
In b4 God's will...

You're 12 years old, so it's in poor taste to brow beat you with this stuff... but yeah, I have strong opinions.
