I keep on forgetting the refutation line for the stafford, anybody have a simple line that just gives white a plain advantage without counterplay?

Just develop
1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nf6 3 Nxe5 Nc6? 4 Nxc6 dxc6 5 d3 Bc5 6 Be2.
Black has nothing for his pawn.

lol, no. The point is you get a big advantage but the position is tricky. If you can't remember the lines (or if that position isn't fun for you) then don't accept the gambit. Play 4.d4 or 4.Nf3

f3 line isn’t tricky.

Hey, f3, I like that idea. I don't play the Stafford from either side, but that looks solid.

Still, I imagine blitz games could be annoying, for example here black has all his pieces out and white's king is in the middle.

After Bd6 the move is Qf2

Well, again, I don't play it as either side, but, you know, 0-0 and f5 to line up the rook and queen... the point is to make a lot of mindless threats and hope your opponent messes up right? tongue.png

Well, what else could be the point of the opening? wink.png

As for me, I play 3.Nc3 so I avoid the petroff completely.

If the opponent wants to go for a draw, that's fine, but in that case I want to keep a few more pieces on the board so I have a chance to outplay them.
