Frustrations with turn-based

Why is it, then when I'm too tired to play chess, or I don't have the time to play, it seems like that is the time that most or all of my opponents make their moves? But, when I am ready and willing to play, it seems that I sit at my computer for long periods of time waiting for my opponents to move? Is this some kind of conspiracy? Are all of my opponents sending messages back and forth while spying on me to try to kick me when I'm down and gang up on me? Maybe that is the reason for my current slump... all of my opponents are working in unison! There should be a rule against such things!!!!!

For those who might be wondering... this post is dripping with sarcasm, please don't react as if this is a serious post.... :-)

I think "il silenzio è d'oro"= Silence is golden
Baseballfan
That's about what I got, except that I came up with "silence is golden" for the last part. But what I want to know is.. how far exactly does this conspiracy reach? Is Erik involved? are there others outside of chess.com that are involved?

well "hush" is silence and then it is "d' gold", probably golden, hence "silence is golden"

I've been through what you're describing here, too. But I came to the conclusion that the problem was ME trying to bend turn base into OTB Chess. I think you've got to think of it as correspondence chess. When I realized that I relaxed a lot. Now I really enjoy being able to ponder my moves and make them only when I'm ready. No time pressure. Occasionally, my opponent is at the board at the same time I am, but I've learned to consider that just a coincidence--not a signal to try to play OTB. Like the other morning, I was playing opposite a guy from Leeds. We made a few moves, but then I had to go to work. So I just dropped him a quick message saying that and left. No pressure to get the moves in before I had to go. After resisting getting involved in turn base chess on other websites for years now, I'm really enjoying it here.
