Future of Internet chess?

Iguess very dim. Due to cheating and fake ids.

What is your opinion?

I think/hope that most of online chess players do not cheat or do things that they are no supposed to do. Internet is a 'place' where people don't show they true identity so it's a good place for cheaters (when it comes to games, not only chess. I played Ogame for years, a long time ago, and cheaters were there as well. Cheaters, and trolls, are everywhere!), and other dishonest individuals. But it must also be said that Internet chess allow those who are honest and nice to their fellow human beings to have a lot of fun playing many nice games, "meeting" people from all over the world and learning a huge amount of knowledge about the game. So I think it is not very dim.... okay, I am trying to be optimist about this, I suppose Laughing

Try ICC. The cheating detection is much more successful, there are no fake ids, less bugs, no trolls, and management is not corrupt.

Jadarite, where did you play? Some sites allow adjournments, generally you can turn that feature off.

In the end what I do is slowing choosing those players who are nice and do not cheat (if you play several games against someone, you have good chances to know if he or she is honest), then send a friendship request. In a few months I ended up playing mostly vs people it's good fun to play with. This is the best way, as far as I'm concerned, to enjoy chess.com
