I noticed that as well , but what I did is become angrier, hungrier and set new blitz records.

just noticing that casual blitz chess feels a lot more competitive , maybe a lot of people out of work and pursuing chess to feel busy?
Dont discard a bad streak, I have over 2000 but there are days that I see the 1400s playing in my level, is not them, is just that from time to time we are not really connected, and we have that feeling

It's got a lot to do with people playing tricky and trappy lines watching their favorite streamers. Plus, some folks are getting better.
On the flip side, i do see some timing of the day streakiness as well. Early in the morning i get demolished, but really seem to crush people of the same exact rating later in the afternoon
I don't play much anymore , so i notice when i come back now that 1650 feels how 1850 used to feel.
Why is this? much more players?
