Good for Garry. With such a historic run in the game why not.

Kasparov is a brilliant player, but i think his break for all these years will have taken a slight toll.

I think he will get only 4th. I hope i am wrong.

4th wouldn't be so only in this field... If he would finish fourth ahead of Anand, Nepomniachtchi, Caruana, Dominguez, Le and Navara it would be quite impressive. Bear in mind that Anand did better than Kasparov in speed chess when both were active. Now that Kasparov has been retired for over a dozen years, while Anand has kept playing a lot, and was World Champion less than four years ago, it wouldn't exactly be a bad result by Kasparov to finish ahead of Anand.

Kasparov might have finished 3rd in the Blitz Challenge last year, but if he had beaten Naka in just one of their individual games, which he easily could have, he would have finished outright 1st - that's how close it was.

That would be so cool.   I bet he'd continue his comeback, if he won.

.. 'Father Time', is a formidable foe ; More so, 'imho', than 'Deep Blue' was to 'Gary' when they last played, 20 years ago !

He's only 54.  That's not over the hill yet.   He looked pretty darned good against Nakamura last year.   I think he's a legitimate contender, if he's prepared and trained.   Heck, I'm still getting better, at the age of 53.   He's only 8 months older than I am.

I'm 53 as well, 54 next month August 2nd.  I'm excited to see him in action for real this time!  The blitz last year was fun to watch, especially Wesley So's game vs Kasparov.  Not because So won, but his play was incredible!  Hopefully this will be a springboard for a new chapter in our chess lives!  Bring on the old fogies!!!

One thing is certain, we will see interesting games from the legendary Kasparov. I can't wait to see his matches against Nakamura,Anand,Karjakin,Aronian etc.
