That's the best summary of Fischer I think I've ever heard (and lets be honest, theres been no shortage of "what do you think of Fischer" threads on this forum). With one minor amendment:

Chess is nothing more than "mental masturbation." Not only is the game dead, it's fixed. Gary Kasparov, the world's top-rated player, is a "crook" and a former KGB spy who hasn't played a match in his life in which the outcome wasn't prearranged.

Elvis might not be alive today, but he certainly didn't die when the public thinks he did. Probably died in the 90's.

From what I heard, Fischer made his diatribe after he had a problem with a rental storage unit where the owner happened to be Jewish. Wouldn't it make as much sense to Fischer's mind to call him as crazy for making aggressive moves on a chess board? I believe his whole diatribe was aimed at getting the storage unit owner to return some of his prized goods, or maybe get revenge on the owner. I doubt he fully considered the consequences of his error in making a diatribe at all the Jewish people at once. Nobody in the media ever criticized Fischer for capturing someone's Queen or making a smart checkmate, so he was probably blindsided when there was a media response to his initial criticism of the owner. Unfortunately instead of realizing that a different contest has different rules, he attributed the media response to a conspiracy. Fischer was naive and fell into a bad pattern and took a wrong path. He never meant to start a fight with the whole Jewish population of the world.

well i think most people would still get more out of listening to Fischers proven genius than to you or any other random stranger on the net.
