Gender of the Chess Pieces
All pieces and pawns except for the King are female - the King is male. Since pawns can promote to queens, pawns must be female. Since they can promote to other pieces, the other pieces must be female.
terrible logic. a rook is an inanimate object, a knight an animal, and a bishop has to be a boy.
with your logic, since a pawn can turn into a knight, that means that a rook is an animal

Pawns are common soldiers who get married with the princess from allied country as reward (on The End). Pawn falls into shadow of all-mighty new Queen, which is now 2nd king's wife (Islam) or mistress (Christians). Bishops are long-range archers or fighter-jets. Knights are special units who can jump inside the enemy's lines. Castles are heavy artillery or intercontinental missiles.

Pawn must be female. Knights, Bishops and Rooks that is promoted Pawns must be female. Knights, Bishops and Rooks that are not promoted Pawns can be male or female.
Wouldn't the fact that pawns can be promoted make them trans?

This is such a common question that I've had to make a video on it just to address it - although usually this question asks about pawns promoting.
Chess pieces are inanimate objects which don't have gender, but if you want to take the pieces as the gender they likely represent, then all of the chess pieces are likely male since chess originates from the ancient Indian board game Chaturanga and later Chaturaji
Both of which are variants you can play on chess.com: https://www.chess.com/variants/chaturanga

In ancient Indian military, it is safe to say all infantry (pawns) and other forces were male, or male-lead (such as the case of the Chariot, which later became the modern "Rook" piece when the game went to Europe.
I'll also post another video with a less silly topic too; one that might actually help people with their chess:

Pawn's must be Female since they can't promote to a King
Checker pieces must be male since they can only promote to Kings

^ this actually isn't that obvious, king is a male character for sure but it's vague for the queen. In eastern countries queen is called Vizier, right hand of the king.. and he also is a male.
Bishops are called Elephants, so they are just animals but gender is unknown..

The bishop and knights are definitely male if we look at our history, rook is castle so it has no gender, the pawns are the common people of the kingdom so they are of both genders. However, if you go by the promotion logic, then all pieces are female except the king. But that doesn't seem too promising given that the world at that time was run by only men.
According to "Chess self-teacher" by Al Horowitz, they are all male besides the queen
