Where did my profile views go?

I remember having well over 1000 views on my profile page, but when I log in today i only have just over 900 profile views. I cant think of any reason why the view count should go down. Is it possible for views to be taken away if the accounts that gave them are closed? Or is this just a bug?
It's possible the site changed how the views are calculated, resulting in that decreasing. I never pay attention to that, so couldn't say if mine went down.
