player not playing daily games

I agree it can be frustrating. But it seems to me that if it is a 7-day move game a player is entitled to take all of that time. If a player then had vacation time and the tournament allows it (not all do) then he is entitled to use it. That's just how it is. 

If you don't like it, play tournaments with a shorter move time (there are lots of 1-day move tournaments) or play tournaments which do not allow vacation time (there are plenty of them).

 

I understand what your saying and that would really annoy me. I don't think anything can be done though because your opponent is not breaking any rules.

One week per half-move.

52 weeks in a year.

80 half-moves in a standard game.

This is HIGHLY annoying!! I’ve been lobbying for chess.com to institute NO VACATION Daily matches like they do with tournaments. Or at least limit the frequency that a player can use his vacation feature. I encounter players who use vacation after EVERY MOVE!! Sure, maybe it doesn’t violate the letter of the TOS but it violates the spirt of it. I propose that if vacation is allowed in a match or tournament, that it can only be used ONCE per game. If you need to take vacation during a game, use it and get it over with! No more make a move, go on vacation, make a move, go on vacation etc. premium members are the worst offenders too because our vacation feature kicks in automatically. What a scam! Patience is what you do when waiting for an inheritance. MOVING is what you do when you play chess. MOVE ALREADY!!

You need to learn to understand what Correspondance chess is.  They can take years to complete.

And life.

But won't pay for a gold membership! LOL

I've been ill since the start of the year and have had to use up more vacation time in the last two months than all the time I've been a member. 

I know it can be frustrating to my opponents, but correspondence chess isn't about winning on time. I've had plenty of opponents use up loads of vacation time against me. I don't mind, I have plenty of other games to keep me occupied.

For me, it's only vacation abuse when you try to win by outliving your opponent (Dragging out every single move in the hope that the opponent will drop dead before the end of the game cos you aint gonna win any other way), or when you're clearly losing and suddenly stop moving. Those are the only two clear examples of vacation abuse I can think of. 

Again, for all you people who aren’t getting the argument here. We are not talking about legitimate use of vacation,ie hospitalizations, out of country etc. we are talking about ABUSE! Constantly letting your time run out and vacation mode to kick in because you don’t bother to move for what ever reason. MAMA! (Make a move already)

Ain't going to change, folks, as it is a popular feature with too many here. 

 

But, we do have some interesting folks here.

I got no problem with daily games. You know what you are agreeing to. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH VACATION ABUSERS! MAMA!! (Make a move already)

 

It is really annoying but monthly vacation time does run out. Just check it daily, the player may have a decent reason to why he/she isn't playing

If you want to force people to move quickly, don't play correspondence chess.

Where do I sign the online petition to make sure you CAN'T abolish vacation time. This is ridiculous!
