Wow but it would be nice to give more details tho
Wesley So is close to overtaking Hikaru Nakamura

Yeah, Nakamura plays beautiful chess, but he is no Bobby Fisher.
Not that I'd blame Americans for wanting another genius champion, but that kind of player has proven to be rare, like maybe one every few decades.
In the whole world that is, not a single country.

He is approximately as good as Fischer (compare their peak Elos) it only appears that he isn't because training methods and standards of play have dramatically increased since then. Karpov's tournament wins, the Kasparov-Karpov matches, rise of the machines, and Dvoretsky's school and overall refinements in opening theory, technique, and defense have risen play to such a standard that it's unlikely for Fischer's achievements to ever be repeated.
Personally, I find Topalov's incredible win in San Luis back in 2005 to be more impressive than Fischer's 6-0 wins over Taimanov and Larsen because of the overall rise in playing standards.

He is approximately as good as Fischer...
This is the joke of the century. Honestly.

hi oogie boogie,it seems that the connoisseurs don't agree.Fischer's 18.5-2.5 against players of that caliber(Taimanov,Larsen,Petrosian) remains the single most impressive drubbing at the high level in the history of chess.especially beating the iron tigran 6.5-2.5 is simply mind blowing.i have never heard the connoisseurs compare topalov's impressive win to Fischer's out-of-this-world drubbing of such stong grandmasters.just my opinion..

He will be the #1 US player soon. The Nakamura hype train is all but over at this point.
Train is coming to a screeching halt.
I haven't looked at So's games but from what I've seen of Nakamura's (apart from his draw against Carlsen in a c3 Sicilian) games he has incredible creative faculties and amazing calculation skills.
