Ehm, hi MSC? :D

There's nothing strange about Black's opening choice : he is playing the Modern Defence, which has been around for 100 years and has been played among others by 7 times Russian champion Peter Svidler. I'm surprised that a 2300 player doesn't even mention the name, but it's true that class C players are more familiar with the KID...
Also after 3.e4, you don't need to be familiar with the Pirc, as after 3...Nf6, you have the option 4.e5, which isn't available through a normal Pirc move order, while after 3...d6, you still have the option to play c4...
I guess in sexy-sunshine's country, where CM are rated 2100, 2300 people are pretty ignorant of openings, and probably draw their strength from other parts of the game, presumably 'very accurate' tactics.
Besides, it's funny to see a Russian member advocating the use of Chessbase : Chess Assistant is more popular there.
But I don't expect the Russian flag to be genuine of course. We're not that naive...

Also note that SS claims that c4 tries to transpose to a King's Indian...It actually transposes into a Maroczy, more frenquently, as Black usually takes on c4, which is shown by...ChessBase.

Don't ask too much to the kid, Bengalore ;-)
I mean you don't expect a 2300 player to know what the Modern defence or the Maroczy are, do you ?

Hicetnunc, you are a very annoying troll. When you dont stop trolling I will block you and ban you from this thread. And again you dont bring any content. You are just annoying and talking trash, not more not less. Probably its because you are jealous that you arent a good chess player yourself. Why do I need to call 2...Bg7 the Modern? A move is not an opening and its obvious that the fact how I call it does not change anything with the content I said about it. And yes you need to familiar with Pirc like positions because its obvious that when you play 3. e4 you dont want to go into a kingsindian with c4 afterwards. When you would have liked to play a kingsindian you would have chosen a completly different move order. And I did not say that his choice to play the Modern is strange, I just said that in this position with this move order it seems strange because of what I just sayed some posts before. And no I am not ignorant of openings. Very random to say that. I bet I am at least 10 times better in openings than you and I dont mean only the theory but also the plans behind a line. Ah and what is wrong with using chessbase? Every top player uses it.

From another thread, a funny quote of Sexy-Sunset "the Colle and the Trompovsky often lead to similar positions". Well, this is not even inaccurate, but just shows complete ignorance. Just look at Hodgson's games in the Trompovsky and count how many of those games feature the characteristic pawn structure of the Colle system (namely c3-d4-e3)... My bet is close to 0 is the answer :-)

Hello hietnucn.... could you answer to my posts or will you continue trash talking. And obviously you have no clue of the Trompovsky. I play it since 5 years (!) with very good results and most opponents play d5 against 2. Bg5. And this leads to exactly the colle like pawn structure c3-d4-e3. So before you say something completly stupid you should better think if its correct.

Ah and please guys, can you tell me how to report hietnunc? He has not only no plan of chess but is also very rude and annoying. Thanks!

Wait Bangalore, when did I say that? I didnt mean this position with c5.
Apologies. I was reffering to your ommision of analyzing 4.c4 in the game.
