Getting A 'Real' Rating

I'm wondering if anyone knows how I would go about getting a 'real' correspondence (or even OTB, I suppose) rating.

I live in northern Ontario, Canada so finding tournaments in the vicinity is essentially impossible, explaining why I'm looking to join a CC club.

That's about all I know.. I'm not sure if there is some international correspondence chess federation I should be applying to or a National rating or whatever.

It's not a big deal but I figure I may as well go out and get myself a rating of sorts, especially if I was to ever become strong enough to earn a 'title'.

Any help appreciated,

I found this link:

for the CFC (canadian federation of chess).  since I'm US, I didn't know quite what to look for, but I would contact them for information.

I know in the uscf there are many tourneys, you may have to travel a little to play in a lot of them but they are around.  and uscf also sponsors postal chess, where you can get an official correspondence rating.

good luck.

I play at a chess club once every week and join the occasional tournaments. It's a lot of fun! Do you have any chess clubs in your area?
