Getting free master games databases

Sigh....... I have an embarrasing confession. I don't fully know what I'm doing when I want to bring new games over to my fritz program, I'm pretty ignorant. Sorry, I'll work on it. So, when I go to a site like twic & I see the downloadable section I highlight it in blue, right? Then "copy" it in order to "paste" it elsewhere, like in my fritz program, right? Does that send it where I want it? Or do I have to do something else. I admit it, the extent of my computer knowledge is just very basic email, copy & paste, only just recently figured out how to send a video from youtube to my email. I know it's just low level elementary stuff but I never had anyone show me how to do anything with the computer. So..... there you have it. Can anyone help? I really would like to be a better player & want to use a computer to help me for a change. I have fritz 11

is there some way to download a cumlative file so i then can start downloading each week instead of having to go thru that process umpteen times?

Yea its called buying mega database with chessbase 11. If you want every master game its not a bad way to go.

There are lots of places to find free pgn files. Just use Google. Here's one:

Possibly, but you can just as easily...
1) ...use a Firefox add-on utility like "Download Them All" to automatically download all of the pgn files from that site. Before you are finished drinking a cup of coffee, you will have them all.
2) Merge them all into one file instantly, with the DOS copy command, i.e, "copy *.pgn all.pgn".
Done.
Probably less than ten minutes, from start to finish, and about 30 seconds of work from you.
Hi everyone. I have fritz 11 to help me learn my openings somewhat. I had never used a database or computer until recently. When I was looking through the fritz menu I noticed where it says import games. Does that mean I can increase the number of games from the current 1.4 million by somehow accessing the databases from other sites? Are there free ones?
