Peace, love and unity.

Oh sorry! Wrong site, gotta split!

Bring back the monochrome board!

The knight's move makes perfect sense.

It's got to be able to leap out over the pawns so it can singlehandedly take out the opponents king while his own army sleeps.

Yeah and you, good sir, are the most valuable contributor to the forums. We love you for that.

PS: My reply is sardonic. Just in case you thought it wasn't.

Well, now this time I disagree with pawnstogo (sorry pawns). You can use it win/advance pawns from alotta players (without an OTB Rating of course) 'cuz they don't know the rule....at least that's what my friend Patrick Ortreat says.

You can't stop me...

I am also very sorry to interrupt but I thought to say that demonstrations of games to be played would be something wonderful for evolution and interesting to see without the rule. I have never played a game without.

No, don't get rid of it. It would lead to even more draws because the pawns would get locked up more.

Let's get rid of castling.  Then sht would really get real.

TheRoboticNoob

Yeah guys! Lets tell the developers of chess. This is not fair! Maybe a new chess update?

*YES THIS IS A JOKE*

En Passent is necessary. It’s a great Rule.

Yeah, I agree, it keeps other pawns from passing you.

Tasho

Pawns were only allowed to move one square, even on the first move. It was changed to two in order to make the game a quicker and challenge the center sooner.

This change created the possibility of a pawn moving forward without the possibility of being challenged by a pawn in the adjacent file (which was impossible under the old one-square-at-a-time rule).

Therefore, the en-passant rule was created to address this anomaly.

If you get rid of en-passant, you would need to get rid of the first move option of two squares.

No castling chess is a variant first proposed by the people behind AlphaZero, and it's been played in a few big tournaments. It's also available here... but you'll need to find a willing opponent or you'll never get a match.

Get rid of people who want to get rid of that rule! I once suspended a guy from my club who thought it was a stupid rule. I let him back in after 3 months. He actually was crying after promising that he would never, ever say that again. I smiled. All was good again! I run a tough club. People playing early Rook pawn moves are given warnings and unsound gambits along with the London System and King's Indian Attack are forbidden to be played in our Championship.
