my oponent ran out of time but instead of a victory for me it was a draw why? http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=548271648

it's impossible for you to deliver checkmate through any sequence of moves - so according to the rules it's a draw even if your opponent time runs out

he ran out of time

Avatar of Gill-Massachusetts

he had material to mate me

Avatar of LoveYouSoMuch

i changed the wording :p anyway, he had, you didn't though

Avatar of Gill-Massachusetts

Oh, I didn't know that. Thank you. That's dumb.

Avatar of Gill-Massachusetts

i'm still learning the rules

Avatar of LoveYouSoMuch

i think that it's dumb that people can win on time despite being down a full queen and rook (you'd win if you had even one pawn) - these are the implications of playing no increment games though... and i like them :p

Avatar of Gill-Massachusetts

What are no increment games? No clock?

Avatar of Gill-Massachusetts

I personaly think he should have lost because he ran out of time. its the other persons responsibility to checkmate me in the aloted time.

Avatar of Gill-Massachusetts

But if them are the rules, who am i do disagree. Now I know.

where you don't get extra time for each move. like, in an 1 increment game you'd get 1 extra second after each move.

Avatar of Gill-Massachusetts

Oh, I agree, I don't like those types of games ether.

You can gain time if you move fast enough, which I find wierd.
