Hey, I'm looking or a chess engine that I can just buy and be done with (no monthly payments)-- does chess.com have an option for this? What are your guys' favorite engines?  I'm pretty new and don't know how this works, but would like access to deeper analysis of games.  Thanks happy.png

Stockfish is free, And the strongest. Komodo is good. I bought houdini because I figured I'd get a bang for my buck, but Stockfish is better.

The world champion, Stockfish, is free.  Download the very excellent freeware Lucas Chess and Stockfish 8 32 bit comes with it.  Lucas Chess is here: http://lucaschess.pythonanywhere.com/

You can add additional engines to Stockfish as well as other some other Chess software.

If you want Stockfish 8 64 bit (or 32 bit), it's here: https://stockfishchess.org/download/

If you want the latest development version, Stockfish 8+, it's here: http://abrok.eu/stockfish/
