May be is me that is playing so bad but since a few weeks ago, low ranking players seem to be playing pretty good. I don't know but i was in the 1400 range and now i'm in the 1200!. I don't think i'm playing worst than before (i hope), but i remember to be able to beat a 1200 with no problem, now i'm struggling.

Is anybody else experiencing the same? Or it is just me? should i give up on chess?

happened to me too but only because people let me win and then they stopped letting me win ;) just kidding happens all the time. rankings isnt 100  percent accurate and dont forget, someway on their way up rising people must necessary play against higher rated people who they crush.

you never know maybe they were like 1600 players in the making. it can have several reasons, just enjoy chess..

The game is hard to learn, there are ups and downs. What are u going to do in your life when things get tough ....quit? Focus and take your time when playing..maybe some tactics training. Think out what u are doing on each move and create a plan.Mostly enjoy playing.....i know u can do it.   Good luck

Those of us who are new start at 1200, I've read elsewhere here.  It is not "fair" to other players to lose large point values to strong newcomers.  But my interest is in OTB preparation, and this is just practice, so I don't much care what my online rating is except to give opponents a fair idea of my strength.  Additionally, and one reason I don't much care about ratings here, is that although we are not supposed to be using outside aid for our games, that is difficult to enforce, even with chess.com software monitoring, so that 2000 rated player may not play at that strength in tournament OTB play, which is where it's at for me.

Note that you can choose the rating range against which to be paired if you think you know your play level and thus avoid playing unrated players if you think that's unfair.

Check your opponent's stats after the game.  Maybe they've only played 3 games and they're still rated around 1200 but they're actually much better.

Or check their highest rating.  Maybe they had a rough week and their rating fell a few hundred points and now that their finals are over or their mother-in-law has left town they can concentrate again and are playing their best.

Take a break from chess. Do something else for a day or two then try again.
