I would go c5 and take over the center if he takes, with Nf6 then e5. If not, 3...Nc6 putting more pressure on d4 pawn.

I like to play a combination of nf6 and trying to play for c5 to undermine white’s centre. I find that otherwise you end up in far too balanced positons…

I just stonewall. I hate it though because I'm a tactical player and all them pawn moves before moving pieces or especially having my own pawns in the way drives me nuts. it's a solid system though

d4 d5 Nc3 Nf6 and here there are two moves: Bg5 and Bf4. After Bg5 Bf5 f3 Nbd7 Qd2 e6! Black is better. And if 3.Bf4 e6 Nb5 (e3 Bb4!) Na6 e3 Be7 Be2 0-0 0-0 c6 Nc3 c5 the position is equal after subsequent manoeuvre of Na6-b4-c6 and Bc8-d7-e8
