This is Stanley Kubrick and George C. Scott playing chess on the set of Dr. Strangelove. Kubrick used chess as a way to win his actors' respect as he was an expert player.
Here's one I found of Fischer going over a game with someone and Tal is watching. I'm not sure who he was playing or who is behind them.

Dr. Greg Chamitoff, a NASA astronaut who played in the Earth vs Space match back in 2008. He was playing from the International Space Station.
In 2010, Magnus Carlsen became a model and spokesperson for the clothing line, G-Star. G-Star and Chess.com teamed up and facilitated the Magnus Carlsen Against the World event. In time, this image might become a classic photo along with the iconic photos that have been posted here.
Apparently, NASA already had a chess-related press release as early as 30 years ago!
In this picture dated Nov 14, 1970, Chris Daley, who worked for the NASA Administration, was operating the chess program that ran on a Varian Data Machine 620/1 computer. The program placed Second in the First Computer Chess Championship.

LIFE May 18, 1942, with America at war with Japan, published a rather involved article on the Japanese game of Go. The article inclded this photo of Edward Lasker (who was possibly the main proselytizer of Go in America).
