@ j-pax,
thanks.
The text is not very clear but at the end is written that Alekhine has the right to challenge for a rematch in 1936.
yes the rematch was in 1937 and Aljechin won his title back.
i think these photo's are from the match (thanks:)), but they played 30 games so i do not know it is from game 15... wich is of special interest to me because it is played where i live...
dr. Euwe told a funny strory about the match and Aljechin.... he had 2 siamese cat's and believed that when the cat's sniffed the board it was good fortune...... Euwe said they where lovely animals.
they where always there with aljechins wife. to the question that bobby fisher would not accept that (in the iceland match time he was fide president) he responded.... why not??? they where not causing trouble ... "katte kwaad" (translated: cat's evil)
Yes the match 1935 they played in 13 different towns.
Because the building looks like a castle, if you can recognize the fresco's, may be this one ?

thanks owlyboly, this looks like a museum in a big city, where most games where played... and this is not Rembrant's "night watch" wich many websites say it is....
and thanks batgirl.. nice to see this draw with Euwe as black... as an amateur i cannot see why Aljechin cannot avoid the knight and winwith the rook and king??? i'll have to do some endgame study :)
maybe someone here can help me to find a photo i am looking for.
in the 1935 match Euwe and Alekhine played in my little home town Baarn... i do know it's game 15... and i cannot find any pictures.. sad to say.... they played in this hotel
is the hotel still therE? looks like an interesting place to go for a trip
@ Tetsue.... as a kid i saw it looking like a ghost house ready to collapse.... it was made of wood :(
the middle tower is saved now and the wings are (modern) multi million € appartments.
it looks like this now....
Has anybody found a still of McQeen and Dunaway's chess game in the Thomas Crowne Affair? ("Tension, anyone?" -- whew!)
I know who is the chess player, but the lady ?
I couldn't find the one I really wanted to post - Karpov and Kasparov standing practically face to face and staring at each other with expressions that would do most boxers proud; (taken before their first match I think) but this one is also pretty well known sorry if it's already been posted!
Andersson & Karpov look like teenagers. Crazychessplaya IDs the photo from Nice 1974, so they were both 23.
Here's a close-up of the jumbled bd Capa and Steiner are seated in front of. BTW the famous "living chess" game they played was made up in advance, even though IM Golombeck put in "Capablanca's 100 Best Games" as a legitimate game.
