It sounds like your opponent is trying to draw the game by threefold repetition. He's not being rude; it's a legitimate strategy.

So what does one do when his opponent keeps moving a piece, say a knight back and forth between the same two squares, each time putting my king in check?
For each of the two offensive moves I moved my king to the place I felt was best - which apparently kept my agressor's cycle going.
Is there any etticate that applies here? I would think maybe the offensive side should move on with life and use a different attack strategy.
