Groundhog Day

So what does one do when his opponent keeps moving a piece, say a knight back and forth between the same two squares, each time putting my king in check?

For each of the two offensive moves I moved my king to the place I felt was best - which apparently kept my agressor's cycle going.

Is there any etticate that applies here?  I would think maybe the offensive side should move on with life and use a different attack strategy.

It sounds like your opponent is trying to draw the game by threefold repetition. He's not being rude; it's a legitimate strategy.

Once the game is in the same position three different times, either side can claim a drawn game. If you don't want a draw, it's you that has to move on with life and try a different square for your king.

You'll never get out of the repeating cycle until you learn to love and help others.
