He believes Chess should be more like MMA and Boxing... GMs should be challenging other GMs in match play... like Boxing and MMA...
Now we have GMs playing the ratings game. They covet rating points because that translates to sponsors and invitation fees.
Match play is different than tournament play... some world champions were not ranked no#1... yet their rivals could not defeat them in match play...
I'd like to see FIDE start promoting micro matches... 3 classical games starting on a Friday... with a Rapid, Blitz tie breaker mode on Sunday, after the Classical game.
